Yoga Asanas to Make Your Child More Attentive and Focused

Children often find it difficult to focus on any task for more than a few minutes. This is because their concentration levels are not as developed as an adult’s and they are easily distracted by the world around them. If not checked, it can prove to be detrimental in the future. The sooner a child can be made to overcome this, the better it will be.

Yoga can help. There are a few asanas aimed at helping a child to concentrate better and be focused. Here are some asanas that you could encourage your child to do:

  1. Tadasana (Mountain pose): This pose enhances focus by relieving the body of pain. The stretching releases the tension in the body reducing stress. This often helps the body to feel refreshed, and thanks to it, there is renewed focus.
  2. Paschimottanasana (Seated Forward bend pose): Often, an upset stomach can lead to reduced levels of concentration. This asana works by primarily easing constipation, stomach pain, and headaches. This, in turn, causes relaxation in the body leading to better concentration levels.
  3. Vrikshasana (Tree pose): The focus of this asana is balance. An agitated mind cannot effectively perform this asana. Thus, to do this asana, one must inculcate patience and focus. It also calms the nervous system and enhances stamina.
  4. Garudasana (Eagle pose): This is another balance-based asana, more so than Vrikshasana. This asana promotes neuromuscular coordination, thus helping to focus on multiple things at the same time. It promotes suppleness in the body while calming the person down. These are ideal conditions in which concentration can be improved.
  5. Ustrasana (Camel pose): This asana must be performed early in the morning before eating any food. It works by strengthening the entire body, particularly the endocrine system. It works towards lowering body fat and frees the mind to become more focused (it also improves on the chakras).
  6. Bakasana (Crane pose): Bakasana relies on mental strength and physical endurance in order to be properly executed. This asana ensures that the mind gains greater fortitude and thus can concentrate on issues longer and better. The increased endurance ensures that the mind is not easily distracted.
  7. Natarajasana (Dancer pose): This is a fairly difficult asana for beginners, although when done right, it helps a lot. It needs flexibility of the body, core strength and mental alertness to be executed properly. It helps the mind concentrate and focus by ensuring a reduction in depression and stress. It also improves the circulatory system ensuring proper blood flow to the brain.

Doing these asanas will enhance the concentration and focus of the mind. It is never too early to introduce your children to yoga. However, care must be taken to ensure that the child is safe and undisturbed when practicing these asanas. Similarly, when children are busy focusing on something, whether studies or play, it is very important they are not disturbed.

Mosquitoes are an example of a menace that can be very distracting. Needless to say, they cause several serious illnesses like malaria, dengue, and chikungunya. Protect your child with Goodknight Neem Agarbatti in the house and put Goodknight Fabric Roll-On, on clothes when outdoors. This will ensure every mosquito is kept at bay, so your child isn’t disturbed or irritated when doing yoga, studying or playing.
